For Christians, success means growing closer to God and maintaining a healthy relationship with Him. A key aspect in this pursuit is the fight against temptation.
Temptation in the Biblical sense is a situation in which one experiences a challenge to choose between fidelity and infidelity to one’s obligations toward God. Temptations may come in different forms. Sometimes, they are obvious, and other times, they come in discreet ways. These will either promote your growth or promote your destruction.
To fight and overcome temptation, there are ways you can follow. The very first step is to reconcile with God. Turn to Him in repentance and faith while you acknowledge that only Jesus can make you right before God. Remember that Jesus died in our place to satisfy the just wrath of God against our sins.
The next step is to meditate on God’s Word regularly. Renew your mind and be guided by scripture which is taught to us in church. Our Christian Ministry in Wilmington, Delaware, is also a good source for scripture learning.
After you have meditated on scripture, aim for that change in your life by denying ungodliness and cultivating godliness. Instead of looking for pleasure in the world, attach and delight yourself in the Lord always “and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4). Worship often and see how easier it will become for you to avoid tempting situations or respond to one.
Finally, be transparent to God and others. This way, you will be more in tune with yourself, and you will know what is godly or not when faced with another tempting situation.
